So bravo to you on that, and bravo to you on a hell of a ride. Undertale (True Reset, anyone?), Nier (If you played the game you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about), and now Imscared. The only games that have ever really made me think about the ending long afterwards are few and far between. It'll be because that's the choice I made for the game. I may never play this game again, but it won't be because I didn't like it. ![]() I know for a fact that I'll remember this ending for a long time, and only I had the option to put myself there.ĭon't feel like you need to add in an option because someone isn't happy with it. Your actions have impactful consequences, and not just "good" or "bad", but something longer reaching. ![]() Much like Undertale, your game finds ways to break the mold on how that design works. Some people don't see beyond consequence and want to assume that just because it's a game, they feel the need to earn it all back again. Will people be upset about that? Of course they will. You're outside of its rules, and the ending is one that the player had to create themselves in order to see it. It stands as a personal choice to the player rather then something being dictated by the game itself. Honestly? If you want to have an option, at the very least make it one that's in context or in universe with the game (i.e., letting the player put the heart back, only to have White Face wipe everything out of spite, or some form of that)Īs it stands though, I just finished the game myself, and I think the Loneliness ending was perfect.
